Well, it appears that the DS XL/LL announcement wasn’t due to a lack of sales, since we’ve now got worldwide totals for the handheld. Counting the Phat, Lite and DSi, the DS, in all its revisions, has now sold 113 million units. That brings it very close to the Gameboy and Gameboy Color’s 118.69 million sales, so we can only assume it’ll pass those by the end of its lifetime. 11.7 million of those DS sales were in the last 6 months, too.

On the games front it is still doing well too, with 71 million copies of software sold in the last 6 months. This brings the total software sales up to a massive 638 million!
